People. Action. Art. Bridging Arts is a small charity with a big impact. We are in search of a new Trustee to join our board. Since 2004, we have been developing creative and ground-breaking initiatives to tackle difficult social issues. Whether social isolation, economic deprivation or a lack of pride in heritage.
We identify key issues like these, then fundraise and develop projects to throw a spotlight on them – and hopefully bring about change on some level, however small. Visit our website for details of work currently under way.

Trustee
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Bridging Arts achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They ensure that Bridging Arts has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. They help the charity to grow and thrive, and to develop core projects.
Board members have a collective responsibility. This means trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
Duties:
- Support and provide advice on Bridging Arts’ purpose, vision, goals and activities.
- Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee Bridging Arts’ financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Ensure that important risks are recognised, monitored and controlled effectively.
- Keep abreast of changes in Bridging Arts’ operating environment.
- Contribute to regular reviews of Bridging Arts’ own governance. Attend board meetings and be adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
- Use independent judgement, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Bridging Arts’ interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
- Contribute to the broader promotion of Bridging Arts’ objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
Since we are a small charity, there will be times when the trustees may need to be actively involved beyond board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on important issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting ideas and projects to possible funders or partners, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise. The possibility might also arise for a trustee to develop and manage a piece of work and/or project.

Terms of appointment
Terms of office
- Trustees are appointed for a one-year term initially. This will be renewed at the board’s discretion.
Time commitment
- Attending up to three board meetings annually. Board meetings are usually held in London but can be attended remotely.
