Trustees – National Museum of Wales

The Welsh Government and Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales wishes to appoint up to five trustees to the Board of Amgueddfa Cymru.

We are seeking new trustees who are:

  • passionate about Wales’ cultural heritage;
  • ambitious, innovative, strategic thinkers;
  • committed to ensuring that the diverse communities of Wales can enjoy what the Amgueddfa has to offer.

If you can inspire future generations and encourage new ways to use and enjoy Amgueddfa Cymru’s services and vast collections, then we would love to hear from you.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from people with knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Legal
  • Digital transformation
  • Environmental and sustainability
  • Health and wellbeing

Time commitment

A minimum commitment of 12 days per year for a four-year term starting from January 2024. This includes attendance at a minimum of four Board meetings a year and other sub-committees as appropriate – Board meetings are typically in person at locations across Wales and sub-committees are usually digital.

Welsh language skills: Fluency in Welsh is considered essential for one of the available trustee positions. The remainder are considered Welsh desirable,

Amgueddfa Cymru is pro-active about working bilingually. All Board papers are provided bilingually and simultaneous translation is available at all meetings. We welcome applications from anyone committed to a bilingual Wales.

Remuneration: Please note that these are voluntary roles, but all reasonable expenses will be met.
