Ragdolls UK is a small but growing voluntary organisation with ambitious plans for future expansion of its services. It is a registered charity supporting women and girls with Turner’s Syndrome.
To help us grow we need experienced members of the public to join our Board. We are particularly keen to recruit members of who have one or more of the following skills:
• Experience in charity governance.
• Experience in fundraising for non profits.
Board meetings are held every three months. This can be held remotely.
The Board is responsible for setting the strategy and policies of Ragdolls UK and supports the director and her staff.
This is a voluntary role but any expenses incurred will be covered.
We are a small charity supporting women and girls with Turner’s Syndrome. We are currently looking for committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
All experiences are welcome.
Trustees are the people responsible under the governing document for the day to day running of the charity
The role of a trustee is:-
- To ensure that Ragdolls complies at all times with its governing document.
- To ensure that Ragdolls UK carries out its projets in compliance with the governing document as well as puts any funds raised to its best use.
- To set and maintain vision, mission and values to develop strategy, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets..
- To help develop any volunteer support that is required.
- To ensure the effective administration of the charity.
Governance
Trustees must ensure that Ragdolls’ governance is of the highest possible standard:
- To ensure that Ragdolls UK has a governance structure that is appropriate to a charity of its size/complexity, stage of development, and its charitable objects, and reflects the diversity of is its users.
- To ensure that Board decisions are recorded in writing by means of minutes.
- To ensure that the responsibilities delegated to the director are clearly expressed and understood, and directions given to him/her come from the Board as a whole.
- To ensure the Board regularly reviews Ragdolls’ governance structure and its own performance, to an agreed programme.
- To ensure that major decisions and policies are made by the trustees acting collectively. In consultation with the director, to ensure that the Board has on it the skills it requires to govern Ragdolls well, and that the Board has access to, and considers, relevant external professional advice and expertise.
- To ensure that there is a systematic, open and fair procedure for recruitment of Trustees.
- To ensure that all members of the Board receive appropriate induction on their appointment and that they continue to receive appropriate advice, information and training (both individual and collective).
- To ensure that trustees have a code of conduct and comply with it, and that there are mechanisms for the removal of trustees who do not abide by the trustee code of conduct.
In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience s/he has to help the board reach sound decisions.
