Seamab is a registered Scottish Charity with a legacy of providing primary and secondary
school education and care to 25 children and young people aged between 5-18 years from
all over Scotland who have faced social, emotional, and behavioural challenges due to
adverse childhood experiences. Their mission is clear: to ensure that all children and young
people are loved, respected, enjoy their childhood, and achieve their full potential.
The Kinross-based organisation operates school and residential homes year-round,
including three houses within their care campus and a service situated near to Linlithgow. At
an exciting time within their development, Seamab plans to build a new, fit-for-purpose
school on their existing site, commencing in 2024, as well as currently expanding their
provision of care and education for those aged 13 – 18 years.
At Seamab, they believe that every child deserves the best chance to grow, develop, and
thrive. They provide therapeutically-informed care underpinned by resilience, nurture, and
attachment theories. This foundation enables Seamab to create a secure base where
children can feel safe, learn, grow, and develop in an environment that places their needs at
the centre.
Seamab are dedicated to ensuring that children at Seamab feel they can live there for a long
time without experiencing too many additional transitions, in line with the aspirations of "The
Promise" to limit the number of transitions for children in Scotland.
The Role
At an exciting and pivotal time in their history, Seamab are on the search for dedicated
individuals who would like to bring their experience and passion to their dynamic Board.
Trustees have ultimate responsibility for developing the strategy and policy of the charity, as
well as overseeing the services they provide.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a commitment to good governance, the
desire to achieve Seamab’s vision, and with relevant skills and expertise.
We are particularly interested in hearing from those who have one or more of the following:
? Successful experience of operating within a board or at a senior management level in
a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation.
? Demonstrable experience of building and sustaining relationships with key
stakeholders and colleagues to achieve organisational objectives
? A background in social care or social work
? A proven track record of sound judgement and effective decision-making
? A track record of commitment to promoting equality and diversity

Time commitment is centred around four Board meetings per year, held during work hours.
