Key Strategic Skills Requirements
We are seeking candidates who would enjoy supporting our mission and are able to
- Bring experience and informed perspectives in Ecommerce, marketing and on line customer experience best practice
- Has experience of developing and implementing digital strategy
- Are comfortable supporting the development of Ecommerce and digital services in a social enterprise environment.
- Want to expand their knowledge and skills and have a keen interest in enterprise, entrepreneurship, and SMEs.

Further Details
The new Non-executive Director will join the main Board and support Wenta’s expansion plans. The Board currently meet quarterly around the established annual business cycle. Applicants for this Board Member role should be exceptionally talented, and highly motivated.
This is a great opportunity to play a vital role in the organisation, helping to lead and contribute towards the strategic direction of the business, add value to the governance, and support future growth and innovation.
Wenta has ambitious plans to develop an already successful digital offer into supporting SMEs with their climate change challenges. The Board will play a pivotal role in our success over the next five-to-ten-year period.
Time Commitment
- Quarterly Board meetings per year Annual Board Strategy 4 Finance, Investment and Risk committee meetings per year (if part of committee) Communication with other Board members
- Estimated time commitment between 5 and 10 days.
- Meetings take place mainly face to face, across our sites in Watford, Stevenage, Potters Bar and Enfield.
- Board and committee meeting start at 5.00pm and the Chair and CEO seek to complete business with one to one and a half hours.
Purpose of the Role
Wenta Directors have legal, financial and fiduciary duties under Company Law. They must accept responsibility for ensuring that Wenta is solvent, well run and delivering the purpose, mission objectives for which the company was established.
Members of the Board are responsible for determining and monitoring the strategic direction, policies and procedures adopted for the good management of the Company and its clients.
Term of Office
- Board members can serve a maximum of two terms of four years.
Remuneration
- Board members of Wenta are not remunerated in keeping with its not for profit values. Reasonable travel expenses can be paid.
Responsibilities
Strategic leadership, Governance, relationship with the CEO and meetings
- Provide oversight of the organisation,to maximise the impact for its clients, customers and beneficiaries
- Contribute to the Board operations within its objectives and provide a clear strategic direction
- Contribute to the review process for: major risks, opportunities, and financial health
- To contribute to the Board’s annual evaluation of its own performance and that of any sub committees or individual directors as required
- Foster that constructive relationships exist with and between the Board members and committees
- Ensure Board members are fully engaged and that decisions are taken in the best, long-term interests of the organisation and that the Board takes collective ownership
- To act as an ambassador for Wenta and to actively support the aims and objectives of Wenta
- To ensure that Wenta operates in accordance with Company Law and all other applicable
