Media Trustee Neuroblastoma UK

Job description

We are looking for someone who can support the organisation, including our wonderful Communications Manager, to increase media coverage and brand awareness of Neuroblastoma UK.  You can see more about the requirements of the role in the attached document, but some that are specific to the role of Media & Communications Trustee are below:

Duties of the Media and Communications Trustee

  • Serving as the lead on communications at board level, including but not limited to representing the organisation in media (TV, Radio, etc.)
  • Mentorship and support of the Communications Manager employed by Neuroblastoma UK
  • Utilising your networks to raise the profile of Neuroblastoma UK
  • Willing and able to share time and expertise with Neuroblastoma UK
  • It would be desirable, but not essential, if candidates were willing to line manage the Communications Manager role

Essential Attributes of the Media and Communications Trustee

  • Experience in public relations, media or other forms of communications would be preferable
  • Confident speaking to media
  • Strategic thinking
  • Experienced in building the media profile of a smaller organisation
  • Knowledge of the healthcare sector in some capacity would be preferable

As part of the Neuroblastoma UK board you will help to shape our strategic direction alongside other trustees, but will also have the opportunity to build out a communications strategy ,and as our Media & Communications Trustee you will be the spokesperson for our organisation on television or radio etc. when required.

This is a vital role for us to fill a current skills gap on the board.  We would also love to find someone who would be willing to take on the duty of line managing our Communications Manager – we are open to discussing what the format of this would be.  This would have a huge impact as they are currently managed by another trustee without media experience, so it would be fantastic for them to be able to have more of a mentor who can support them in their role.
