Fundraising Trustee – Glass Door Homeless Charity

Job description

Join Glass Door Homeless Charity’s Board and help us deepen our impact. We are looking for a new Trustee to support the Board with fundraising expertise.

What will you be doing?

As a Board member, you will have a full overview of all of Glass Door’s operations and be an integral part of directing the Charity’s future. The Fundraising Trustee is not required to be directly involved in the implementation of the charity’s annual fundraising plan but is required to input to the fundraising strategy developed by the staff team, and likewise to our fundraising policy.

The Fundraising Trustee’s role is then to monitor progress and the activities of the staff team in order to advise the Board about progress towards securing our annual target income, and any issues around compliance with relevant fundraising policy, law and regulation. Ad hoc analysis for the Trustees or support to staff may be required and you will need to be willing to attend Trustee meetings and meetings with staff as required, including during office hours and including in the offices of Glass Door in Fulham Broadway as needed.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who can demonstrate that they have the skills, experience and commitment to deliver the requirements of the role and to support the Board and the fundraising staff with the appropriate level of fundraising and organizational expertise.

Glass Door values diversity, promotes equality and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of homelessness or a broad understanding of the causes of homelessness or the homelessness sector.

Although Glass Door’s services are often offered within churches or church-owned properties, individuals with connections to a variety of faiths or none work for, volunteer at, and use the services of Glass Door.

What difference will you make?

Your advice and guidance will be essential as the Charity grows. You will support the charity to deliver high standards of legal, regulatory and governance compliance in light of changing requirements and best practice. Most importantly you will support the CEO and staff team in their efforts to secure the funding needed for the charity to deliver the services it offers its guests. You will provide a bridge between the staff and the Board, to help the Board understand the opportunities, challenges, risks and mitigation factors inherent in the work of the staff team; and you will provide the staff team with a direct interface with the Board member responsible for its functional area.
