We are working in partnership with The Wildheart Trust, a registered charity, which works mainly in Europe, to rescue animals from harm, helping to end exploitation and abuse. It also exists to make a positive impact on the biodiversity of the natural world. The Trust runs the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, situated on the Isle of Wight, which focuses on its principal mission to provide forever homes for animals who have suffered at the hands of humans. These animal ambassadors are central to the Trust’s wider campaigning and conservation aims supporting animals and habitats both here in the UK and overseas in Madagascar, and India. They are working towards a world free from animal cruelty where people protect wild wildlife in well-functioning ecosystems.
They are now seeking to appoint a new Chair of Trustees. The Chair will be passionate about animal welfare and conservation and will bring the skills and experience necessary to help further develop the Trust. This will include overseeing governance and controls, exploring new opportunities to help shape the future of the organisation, whilst providing effective leadership to the Board of Trustees and mentorship to the senior team.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience of providing strategic leadership to organisations and mentorship of senior management.
- An understanding of the charitable and/or not-for-profit sectors, ideally with knowledge of animal welfare/conservation or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Chair or Trustee would be advantageous.
- An understanding of financial management.
- An appreciation of the challenges faced within the sector, region, nationally.
- An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of Trusteeship.
We are seeking a strategic individual with commercial acumen, who can lead with integrity, an ethical stance and independent judgement. Chairing Board meetings approximately 12 times a year (9 meetings are via Zoom) and attending other commitments as required, being available as needed to provide appropriate advice and mentorship and maintaining regular contact with fellow Trustees and management of the Trust will be expected.
