Chair of Trustees DIFFERENT PLANET ARTS

Job description

New Chair of Trustees, Different Planet Arts We are a new inclusive arts charity devising sensory theatre and inclusive arts events for children and young people with complex additional needs and their families to enjoy together. We are based in Lewes and make ambitious, entertaining, and inspiring shows for our audiences in Sussex and the Southeast. We work in theatres, arts centers, schools, hospitals, and community settings to create events, experiences, and environments in which we facilitate participants to co-create and play – connecting their inner and outer worlds. We are an artist-led charity that promotes inclusion and empowerment through imagination and participation. We work with hard-to-reach individuals and communities, devising different events and happenings tailored to the needs of specific groups of participants. We design 360-degree inclusion into our projects, allowing participants to invite and take part equally with their families and friends. We also deliver training in sensory theatre and inclusive play for parents, carers, and professionals.

We believe in a world where arts experiences and events are accessible to everyone and celebrated as part of the everyday cultural landscape.

To help us build on our successes and to lead our organisation into the future, we are looking for a new Chair of Trustees with experience in leadership, organisational management, strategy, and fundraising to join our dedicated team of trustees. Applicants are expected to be experienced professionals who are passionate about the ethos, aims and objectives of Different Planet Arts.

Different Planet Arts offers trustees:

  • The opportunity to make a real impact on the future of the charity
  • The chance to develop executive and advisory skills
  • The opportunity to work on projects that directly support families

  • Share with Different Planet Arts staff the task of promoting the profile of the charity
