The past few years have presented Cancer52 with tremendous challenges as we sought to provide excellent service to our member charities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time the support our members provide to people affected by rare and less common cancers was significantly impacted by declines in income, as fundraising events stopped, alongside a significant increase in demand for their services.
Now as we emerge from the pandemic our members are faced with another wave of challenges, this time from governmental uncertainty and the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on ability to fundraise, pay staff adequately and support people with cancer who now face additional financial burden as well as a cancer diagnosis.
But because of the increasingly recognised role we have played in ensuring the voice of people with rare and less common cancers is heard at the most senior and relevant tables at the most difficult of times we have attracted new members meaning we now have 110 charities as part of the Cancer52 family. Our member satisfaction levels continue to rise.
Cancer52 will continue to work hard to further enhance this level of service and representation as well as develop further our focus on the needs of people with rare and less common cancers as targets for cancer care and treatment are revisited and refreshed by Government and the NHS.
If you joined us as chair you could be confident that you will be joining a successful organisation. We are not resting on our laurels and therefore are looking for someone who, alongside the trustees and the Cancer52 team, can take us even further in serving and advocating for the needs of people with rare and less common cancers. We need a Chair who can bring energy, experience, enthusiasm, new networks and efficiency to the role alongside a passion to make a real difference. If this sounds like you, then we look forward to hearing from you.
