We currently have an opening for the Chair of our Finance and Audit Committee. This important role shapes the way that the board supports the organisation to manage its money and efficiently drive impact.

Public Voice is a CIC with a mission to improve neighbourhoods, the lives of residents and the public services they use. Through our work, we ensure people in the community are heard, taking a user-centred, co-production approach to understanding needs, and translate that into meaningful insights for service providers. The results are better outcomes for residents and service users, more effective and efficient services for providers, and stronger and healthier neighbourhoods.

The role

?Public Voice is a dynamic, well respected, and diverse Community Interest Company based in Tottenham but serving communities across London.

We are an independent, influential voice: a trusted catalyst for change. Our vision is for policy making and service provision to be always informed and influenced by the people who use those services. We do this by supporting and enabling user engagement, service co-design, and co-production.

Our specialist expertise in public engagement and co-production, facilitates the shaping of services by the people who use them with the people who provide them. Our pivotal Healthwatch contracts, along with our many other projects and services, allows us to target engagement and relevant services to diverse communities and individuals who need them.

We currently have an opening for the Chair of our Finance and Audit Committee. This important role shapes the way that the board supports the organisation to manage its money and efficiently drive impact. This is an exciting time to be a part of Public Voice: over the last eight years, we have experienced substantial growth and development resulting in a more diverse range of contracts and services across health and social care, and neighbourhood change. Our staff now numbers 35 people.

Role description

The Public Voice Board has ultimate responsibility for the organisation including finance. The Finance and Audit (F&A) Committee enables the board to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.

The Chair of the F&A Committee will provide effective leadership of the committee that will ensure that it can:

  • Advise PV Board on financial management processes.
  • 2Monitor the ongoing financial performance of Public Voice, providing assurance to the Board that finances are well managed and highlight any issues
  • Approve financial procedures of the organisation and review them annually
  • Consider the Annual Accounts and recommend them to the board for approval
  • Aid business planning by considering financial forecasts
  • Approve financial forecasts in the Business Plan

?Essential Requirements

  • Senior-level leadership experience within a large or complex public facing organisation
  • Prior experience of serving on a finance committee or equivalent scrutiny body
  • Financial literacy and ability to quickly digest and then communicate complex finance information simply and accurately
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Willingness to work towards best practice governance at all times.
