Chair of Board of Trustees – Coroners’ Court Support Services (CCSS)

The Coroners’ Courts Support Service (CCSS) is an independent voluntary organisation whose trained volunteers offer emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses, and others attending an Inquest at a Coroner’s Court. Currently available in half of the Coroners’ Courts, their vision is to set up the Service in all of the Coroners’ Courts within England and Wales to ensure bereaved families, witnesses, and others have access to the Service wherever they attend an Inquest.

The Coroners’ Courts Support Service is now looking to strengthen its Board and is seeking their next Chair of the Board of Trustees;

  • Chair of the Board of Trustees – ideally someone with previous experience of being a Chair, Charity CEO, or a Charity Trustee who is able to demonstrate significant experience in helping an organisation with their strategy, governance, and management. An outward facing spokesperson for the charity you will possess excellent networking and stakeholder management skills and be a credible figurehead.

Trustees have a duty to ensure that the charity is well run, solvent, legally compliant, and working towards the charitable purpose for which it was established, and Trustee roles are an important and highly rewarding way to support an organisation. Please note that Trustee roles are unremunerated voluntary positions, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid.

CCSS is committed to equality of opportunity, supports, and encourages under-represented groups, and values diversity. We seek people from a wide range of backgrounds, who will bring a fresh perspective to the Board, and having reviewed existing Trustee’s diversity, skills, and experience, CCSS are keen for the Board to reflect the diversity of the communities that they work with and therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Please contact Heidi Earp, Director of Langton Not 4 Profit our retained consultants for further information on the role.
