Board Member – Treasurer Mental Health Foundation

Job description

At the Mental Health Foundation, we are looking to strengthen our board with the appointment of a new Treasurer. This is a voluntary position which will bring you a rewarding experience and an opportunity to help the Foundation deliver its mission. The role is part-time, with attendance required at various meetings throughout the year.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join a dynamic and inclusive Board of trustees and help ensure the Foundation maximises its impact. We are seeking candidates from all backgrounds and with a range of experiences, however, financial experience is essential. We aim to be an anti-racist organisation and to strengthen and maintain diversity on the Board, we would particularly welcome applications from young people, women and people from minority ethnic backgrounds.

What does the role involve?

  • Chair the Foundation’s Board and to Chair the Finance, People & Governance Committee, with a close view on financial sustainability
  • Ensure the Foundation is in line with charity law, company law and relevant legislation.
  • To uphold the Foundation’s values and be an ambassador for the Foundation.

Requirements

What can you bring to the Foundation?

We would expect all applicants to have a clear motivation for being a trustee, knowledge or experience of charity trusteeship, or a clear willingness to learn and attend training to strengthen your governance skills. In addition, we are looking for the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Integrity, strategic vision and good relationship-building skills
  • Financial experience that would be suitable for a Treasurer role
  • Understanding of or interest in mental health and public mental health approaches

Please note that for safeguarding purposes, all our roles require a DBS/PVG check.
