Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses.

Independent, international and influential, Amnesty International campaigns for justice, fairness, freedom and truth wherever and whenever they are denied. Amnesty’s global network of over ten million people makes a difference in almost every country in the world. Whether we are applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we are all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are enjoyed by all.

Amnesty International UK is a prominent member of this global human rights movement – the world’s largest. We employ 175 staff and raise over £30m every year to campaign for both individuals and on broader human rights issues such as torture, women’s rights and freedom of speech. Our nearly 480,000 supporters take action and provide vital funding to protect the human rights of people in the UK and around the world.

We have a number of Board and subcommittee roles that we will be appointing this year and are currently looking for individuals to join our Grants and Campaigns & Impact Subcommittees, as well as a Deputy Returning Officer. It is a crucial time for human rights both here and globally. We need capable and committed people with a wide range of specialist, governance and other skills to join us. In these roles, you will provide the insight and oversight that ensures Amnesty International UK’s campaigns, education, advocacy, and activism create change, that our organisation is financially and operationally sustainable now and into the future, and that we meet all statutory requirements in the UK.

You will work with passionate and dedicated colleagues to shape Amnesty International UK’s strategies and policies, to support best practices in how we operate as a Not for Profit and employer, and to help us evaluate, learn and innovate to change our world.

At this time, we are particularly interested in people with experience in:

  • Grant-making
  • Campaign Strategy Leadership
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Leading in a Campaign Context
  • Impact Assessment
  • Knowledge of governance structures similar to Amnesty UK

We believe that movements and organisations are strongest when they bring together broad and diverse voices and viewpoints – taking into account lived experience, values and a range of technical competencies. We are committed to Inclusion, Diversity, Equality and Anti-Racism in all of our work – including our recruitment practices.

You can visit our recruitment platform by clicking Apply for more detailed information about Amnesty International UK, our Governance and our current opportunities. You can also register your interest in future roles as well as apply for roles to which we are currently appointing.

Current live roles close for applications at midnight on Friday 31 March 2023.
