Trustees – Esmée Fairbairn Foundation

Founded with an endowment in 1961, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is one of the UK’s largest independent grant-makers. The foundation aims to improve the quality of life for people and communities throughout the UK both now and in the future. We do this by using all our tools to unlock change by people and organisations with brilliant ideas who share our goals.

As well as providing grants and social investment, we offer additional support to organisations we fund through Funding Plus to help them achieve even greater impact. We also use our networks, bring people together and work in collaboration to accomplish more.

In 2021, we provided £51.6m in grant funding towards a wide range of work in support of our three main aims: to improve Our Natural World, secure A Fairer Future and nurture Creative, Confident Communities. Additionally, we also have a £45 million allocation for social investment to support organisations that are creating social impact.

To support our aims, we want to broaden the profile and experience of our Board so that it better reflects the people and communities our work supports. Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is seeking two highly engaged, thoughtful and committed individuals to join its Board of Trustees.

Candidates are invited to contribute balanced judgement, energy and ideas to the Board, as well as perspective, support and constructive challenge. Trustees must have empathy with our mission, and be commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

In addition to these shared attributes, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is seeking individuals with either public sector leadership experience within local and/or national government or financial management experience gained in either a commercial, public or not-for-profit setting.
