The Audit and Assurance Board (AAB)
The AAB was established in 2015, to increase public and stakeholder confidence in the important work undertaken by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC). The initial stages of the AAB were dealing with the some of the structural and legal issues relating to the disestablishment of the previous body, and to ensure the AAB was fit for purpose. Since then, the AAB have been working hard to ensure its work adds value and provides vigorous and healthy challenge.

The board is now looking to appoint a new independent non-executive chair. We welcome applications from those who already have experience of being a non-executive director, and ideally, also as a chair with a strategic HR background, along with audit, finance, risk and governance experience. This will help to strengthen the skill base of the AAB and provide additional external perspective and challenge, resulting in increased public accountability.
