National Highways Director of Enhancements

National Highways is seeking an outstanding leader to join as Director of Enhancements. This pivotal role will oversee the delivery of the organisation’s enhancement programme in line with the Government’s Road Investment Strategy (RIS) and Delivery Plan. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, customer service, cost efficiency, and technical excellence.

With a clear portfolio of enhancements confirmed by the recent Government Spending Review, this is an exciting time to join National Highways. Many projects are already under construction across the country, with others set to commence in the coming years. The Director of Enhancements will shape and lead this significant programme, ensuring it delivers for customers, stakeholders, and the wider economy.

This role requires an exceptional individual with extensive experience of planning and delivering complex, multi-million-pound infrastructure programmes. They will bring a proven track record of operating at a senior strategic level, leading multidisciplinary teams, and working effectively with supply chain partners, government departments, ministers, and other key stakeholders. Their leadership will embody National Highways’ values of safety, passion, integrity, teamwork, and ownership, inspiring high performance across the Major Projects Directorate.
