About the Tax and Trust Specialist role:

As our Tax and Trust Specialist your role is to provide technical expertise on trusts and Inheritance Tax (IHT) related issues in the protection industry. To provide day to day support to various areas of the VitalityLife business and Financial Advisers on trusts, IHT and related legal queries.

Your responsibilities as our Tax and Trust Specialist will include:

-Build and maintain relationships with the sales team (FDs, BCs, NAMS, TAMs and KAMs) brokers, the Business Protection team and management

-Provide day-to-day technical assistance to Business Consultants and Financial Advisers on trust completion, IHT treatment of premiums/multiple trusts and BP related queries throughout the application and trusts process

-Provide technical assistance to the Claims team on intestacy, grant of probate, appointment trustee, validity of trusts, speeds claims process, insolvency and EPAs/LPAs/deputy orders issues

-Providing technical advice and input into the company’s claims philosophy and strategy

-Provide technical assistance to the SA Operations teams on trusts documents and IHT treatment of plans in trust

-Provide technical assistance to the Underwriting team on residence/domicile and insurable interest issues

-Pro-active in writing articles for VitalityLife’s Technical Marketing/Insights publication on legal updates and markets trends on IHT and trust related issues including annual Budget and Autumn Statements

-Provide IHT and trust input on product development and prepare trust and estate planning related supporting literature and guides for launch.

-Accountable for ownership and maintenance of the company’s trust and Business Protection related literature. Review literature in line with changes in law/tax rates/rules and changes of process.

-Pro-actively identify areas for improvement with the trusts process, form business plans to implement changes

-Assist with special projects (eg. Improvements to trusts process (working closely with Ops team)

-Excellent presentation skills

-Excellent communication skills at all levels with attention to detail.

-Excellent drafting skills

Desirable

-Legal Executive/Solicitor

-STEP (Society of Trusts and Estates) Practitioner

-Financial Services e.g.CeFA

-Experience in the UK protection industry

-Experience dealing with Financial Advisers and the UK insurance market
