Our core purpose is a not-for-profit housing association investing funds from rents, grants, and contracts into housebuilding and maintenance activities, care services, tackling climate change/decarbonisation and community programmes. Committed to building strong and sustainable communities and formed from the merger of 2 prominent Associations in Mid and West Wales in 2020, Barcud seeks a new Chair.
You will be working across the heart of Wales – Powys, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, and Pembrokeshire leading us on the next stage of our journey in an area of Wales where there is still much housing need, unemployment, poverty, inequality, and poor health. We need a credible voice for the needs of this area. Your connection and leadership contributions will support that.
The genuine involvement of tenants and residents is fundamental to Barcud. The Board works closely with our independent tenant Barcud Monitoring Group to shape policy and strategy. We value working in partnership with our three subsidiary companies as well as a range of public, voluntary, and private sector organisations to achieve our goals.
Along with your Welsh connection, you will have proven leadership and strategic non-executive skills, and a commitment to our values and the areas in which we operate. We are keen to talk to you if you are an experienced chair, or ready for your first board chair role, are skilled at harnessing the talent around you, and offer the energy and leadership skills to help us on the next stage of our journey.
